NYC coffee shops by the numbers
Where New York's 1,928 coffee shops are, who runs them, and which subway stops have the most coffee close by.
Caflet's directory holds 1,928 coffee shops, every one of them in the NYC Health Department's inspection records with a visit in 2024 or later. Counting them by place turns up a few patterns worth knowing before you go looking for a cup.
Manhattan has more coffee shops than the other four boroughs combined
1,005 of the 1,928 shops, or 52%, are in Manhattan. Brooklyn is a clear second. The Bronx and Staten Island have far fewer listings, partly because much of their coffee is sold in bodegas, diners and bakeries that the city files under other categories.

How fresh is the data?
1,410 shops (73%) were inspected in 2026. An inspection shows a shop was operating on that date, so we display it on every listing. If you spot a closed shop, please tell us.
Method: NYC Open Data restaurant inspection results, cuisine category “Coffee/Tea”, inspected 2024 or later. We removed bubble tea and tea-only shops, merged duplicate records at the same address, and placed each shop in a neighborhood using its coordinates. Subway stations come from the MTA's station list.
