About Caflet

Caflet is a directory of coffee shops in New York City. It's built for one job: helping you find a good place for coffee near where you are, or where you're headed.

Where the listings come from

Every shop starts in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's restaurant inspection results, published on NYC Open Data. We include businesses in the city's “Coffee/Tea” category with an inspection in 2024 or later, then:

• leave out bubble tea, tea-only and dessert shops, since Caflet is about coffee;
• merge duplicate records for the same shop at the same address;
• place each shop in a neighborhood using its map coordinates;
• add the closest subway stations from the MTA's station list, and nearby coffee shops.

The current directory has 1,928 shops. Each listing shows its last inspection date, which tells you the city saw the shop operating on that day.

What we don't show, and why

The city's data doesn't include opening hours, websites, Wi-Fi or seating. We don't guess those or copy them from other sites. We mark them “Not verified yet” until the shop or a visitor confirms them.

We don't publish photos or reviews from other platforms.

Fixing mistakes

Shops open, close and move all the time. If something is out of date, suggest an update, and we'll check it before changing the listing. Shop owners can send hours, website and amenity details the same way.

Sponsored listings

Caflet doesn't sell placement today. If we ever do, sponsored listings will be clearly labeled and kept separate from the directory's distance and A–Z ordering.
